I love the holidays! It’s just such a wonderful time to spend with family and friends and enjoy great food. Now, when it comes to my makeup we all know I love the dramatic. However, I also really love food…so I need my makeup to be simple and chocolate cake friendly.
I think the best way to look polished and put together for a party without going all out is to add a bit of a wing and some color on the lips. Here’s what I did to create a really simple look perfect for any occasion.
I wanted to keep the eyes really “simple” and do a big flick, ha. I wanted to use something other than black for my wing. I used the Honeybee Gardens Effortless Eye Liner in Passion which is a gorgeous smokey plum. Changing the color of your wing is just a great way to amp up your look. When you’re using a liner that isn’t waterproof I highly suggest prepping your eyes to make sure that the color lasts and doesn’t smudge.
I started the eye look by sweeping Porcelain all over the lid. I used Canterbury in the crease to add a bit of depth to my socket. If you have hooded eyes like I do, using a matte shadow in the crease will help to prevent smudging of the liner into the crease. I added a touch of shimmer onto the lid with the shadow Ninja Kitty.
Once my eyeshadow was finished I used a bit of surgical tape to map out my liner. I smudged the pencil along the tape and then used an angle brush to sharpen everything up. This is a great trick if you’re low on time or you have an unsteady hand *raises unsteady hand*
I finished off the look with just a little bit of color on the lips. I love a good red lip but…cake… I used Truly Natural Lipstick in Bombshell. I also added a few coatings of the Truly Natural Mascara. I love the brush on this mascara. The bristles are nice and soft so I don’t stab myself in the eye (again with the unsteady hands).
That’s about it! I love an easy simple look that is still polished enough for a party or just dinner with family! What are you guys doing this holiday season? Are you rocking a red lip or keeping it simple? Let me know down in the comments. I hope you all have a blessed Holiday Season and a very Happy New Year!
