Root Pretty Foundation Review + Swatches

Today I have a review of some Root Pretty products I picked up recently. My skin has really been acting up along my jawline and cheeks. I wanted a mineral foundation that I could use not only to set my concealer in those areas but to add a bit of coverage while doing so.

I emailed Root Pretty with a photo of myself so that they could shade match me. I am so glad I did! While looking at all of the shades of the Root Pretty Pearl Powder Foundation online (neutral, cool, warm and golden) I was extremely overwhelmed! I was leaning towards a neutral shade but I had no idea where to go from there. Hillary recommended I try G 3.5. I picked up G 3.0, G 3.5 and G 4.0.

I was absolutely shocked with how well this matched my skin tone! G 3.5 is the perfect shade for me but I can get away with G 3.0. I was really worried this would enhance my dry areas but it really doesn’t. This has a subtle sheen which just makes you look healthy. Not too glowy but not flat. Really, really flattering. I NEVER thought I would like mineral foundations but I must say, I am seriously impressed.

Hillary also suggest I try their primer, Pretty Booster in Lightly Medium. The sample is a generous size which allows for quite a few applications to see if you like it. I do like this, it provides a bit of coverage and evens out the skin tone ever so slightly before foundation application.

Top to Bottom: Under Eye Brightener, Pretty Booster in Lightly Medium

I also picked up a sample of the Hello Pretty Under Eye Brightener. This is EXTREMELY light. It’s very brightening and definitely knocks out any discoloration. I am still playing with this and trying to find the best way to set this. My under eyes have been very dry lately so I’m having a bit of trouble with all of my under eye concealers. Maybe I need to start using some eye cream…

Root Pretty also sent me a little sample of their loose eyeshadow in Lucky Penny. Ohhh yes look at that copper. Like liquid metal. Love!

Overall: The winner out of this haul is definitely the foundations. I am absolutely blown away. Root Pretty has a really wonderful, comprehensive color selection. Hillary was so sweet in helping me to choose a shade and I am so glad I reached out to her for help.

How do you like the powder foundation so far? I have sensitive acne combination skin and I’ve been trying to look for a good mineral foundation but so far everyone has so much mixed reviews to brands like Alima pure or au naturale):. Was the foundation buildable and not cakey or dry? I sent them an email and they ensured me with positive benefits but I’m not sure

Hi Lily! I have very dry skin and as long as I moisturizer properly this isn’t drying at all. It’s not cakey. If you’re worried I suggest going on with a fluffy brush and building up coverage just where you need it. You can always try a sample first too, just to make sure you like it 🙂 I love it
