Life Update

life update

Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday! I was recently chatting with a friend and she mentioned how she likes seeing more personal posts on blogs because it helps her to get to know the blogger. I thought that I would give it a try and share a bit more than I usually do about my life, plans and changes. Let me know if you like these sort of posts 🙂

Marriage – Just in case I haven’t mentioned it one million times, I am getting married in June. It’s a very small wedding so we are doing all the cooking ourselves. It’s more of a fancy picnic if I’m being honest. But that’s exactly how we want it. Easy, fun and casual! Due to the nature of our wedding it’s obviously taking up quite a bit of our time just planning what we are doing and when things need to happen. When people ask me if I’m excited for the wedding I tell them yes, but I’m more excited for the marriage. The wedding is one day. It will probably rain or snow or something. But honestly, that’s okay!

In the world of social media and Pinterest it can be so easy to get hung up on the details. And those details can add up. Don’t be afraid to say no to the 5 course meal or the personalized party favors. Remember to keep your marriage in the forefront!

Moving My fiancé and I do not live together so we are combining households once we are married. We are very excited and are currently apartment hunting. We will be staying in Philadelphia but finding an apartment is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Then you find the needle and it pokes you and you lose it again. It’s a battle…they don’t call it a hunt for no reason!

Budgeting I graduated last June and George is graduating this June. We are used to living like students. I have a full time job but I still live in my college digs so my spending hasn’t increased that much. However, I think it’s really easy to fall into that trap of combining households and combining salaries and forgetting to budget. All of a sudden you have this huge (relatively) influx of cash and it’s just easy to spend it willy nilly. George and I will be using a budgeting tool to keep us on track! We plan on using Dave Ramsey’s budgeting tool called EveryDollar. I’ll let you know how that goes!

Posting Schedule – At the moment, I post three times a week. Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays. Until after the Wedding and the move I will most likely be moving my schedule to 2 days a week. Wednesday and Saturdays at 7 AM will be the new posting schedule. If I can, I’ll throw in an extra post here and there. I hope you guys understand! Life just gets so busy and blogging is supposed to be fun! It’s not supposed to be stressful. I will most definitely try to get back to three posts a week once we are settled into our new place!

Please let me know if you have any questions for me! I like sharing my life with you guys! The blogging community is so supportive and it’s just wonderful to be a part of it! What are you guys doing this summer?!

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! It’s refreshing to hear about a couple that is being intentional about theirs wedding, living situation and budget before things get out of hand and cause problems. Please keep posting updates!
My husband and I have an epic road trip planned for this Summer. We’re driving from California to Utah to see Bryce Canyon National Park, then to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore, then through Montana to Yellowstone and down through Idaho and Nevada back home. I can’t wait!

Thanks so much Annette!! We are really excited! Your road trip sounds like so much fun!!!!!! I haven’t done as much traveling in the US as my fiancé has so I’m sure we will do a road trip soon!

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage and it’s refreshing to see a young couple that is taking a wise road by having a brilliant day of celebrating a union instead of taking loans to throw the biggest, most expensive and extravagant wedding. My friend is still struggling to pay off her and her husband’s debts and their wedding was two years ago.

And your friend gave you a very wise idea, I too love reading something personal about a blogger whom I follow, it gives such a personal touch and it’s nice getting to know the person behind the blog.
