Deodorant is definitely one of those hot topics in the green community. There has been a lot of discussion as to whether the ingredients used in typical deodorants are safe for use over the long run. Over the years I have noticed that a lot of drugstore deodorants irritate my underarms. They get really dry and itchy. Cute right? I have found that natural deodorants are much less likely to irritate my underarms. However, do they work?
I ordered the Soapwalla Natural Deodorant from Integrity Botanicals. (They also have a sample size that you can add to your purchase if you want to give it a go). I am here to tell you that this stuff performs. I mean, really performs! We had a bit of heat wave in Philadelphia this past week with temperatures in the 80’s so it was the perfect week to test this baby out. I walk to and from work which is 1.59 miles each way (thank you health app). I also go up and down stairs quite a bit. This lasted all day. Because this does not contain any aluminum it is NOT an antiperspirant. Meaning, you’ll still sweat but you won’t smell! It really does a great job at neutralizing odors rather than just masking them. Soapwalla explains all of this on their website.
A note about the texture. When you dip your fingers into the pot it has a slightly granular consistency. However, once applied to the underarms it smooths out nicely and you aren’t left with any odd white marks or residues. I haven’t noticed this transferring to any of my clothing either.
Finally the scent. This Deodorant cream smells divine! It smells of Lavender and Tea Tree. Lovely. Overall, I give this an A+. I will definitely repurchase this once I am finished with this container.
Disclaimer: I am not the sweatiest person you will ever meet. I sweat a normal human amount? At least I think I do…
I purchased this product with my own money and all opinions are my own.
