What I learned from my Makeup Challenge

2

My Makeup Challenge is finally complete! That took a long time…I’m not sure what I was thinking but hey it was fun! It was definitely much more difficult than I thought it would be. So, what have I learned?

  1. It’s really rainy and cloudy on the weekends in Philadelphia…I need to invest in some soft box lighting or something because my camera almost had a heart attack most days. I really don’t like using flash because you lose a lot of the depth of the face but natural light isn’t going to cut it in the winter time!
  2. I have plenty of eyeshadow. I do NOT need more eyeshadow. I should probably get rid of some eyeshadow…but I won’t. More eyeshadow reviews to come I’m sure! I have an addiction…
  3. I have huge holes in my lipstick collection. I am really lacking in nudes, especially warm toned nudes. I’m lacking in warm toned lipsticks in general. Most of my reds are blue toned and I was definitely struggling to find what I wanted while doing some of my looks. I just placed an order on Colourpop for a lot of warmer lipsticks so I’ll make sure to review them soon!
  4. False lashes are my best friends. That is all.
  5. I need to wear more makeup for photos than I do in real life! Especially contour, blush and bronzer it just really doesn’t translate well in photos. I look at all those gorgeous Instagram photos and I’m just sitting over here layering the bronzer until I look crazy and it still doesn’t turn up! Ahhh well…
  6. STOP BUYING EYESHADOW! But the new Vice 4… NO! But…

I found these challenges to be extremely difficult but it was also a lot of fun! I learned a lot about shooting makeup looks and the looks that I really enjoy doing. Did you enjoy seeing the looks I created? Which were your favorite? Let me know down in the comments! I’ll link them all here!

It’s always interesting realising that we have much more makeup than we actually need/use. Love using my lights these days, it makes such a huge difference to photos x

Do you use soft boxes? Are you happy with them? I would love a recommendation if you have a good one!
