Paula’s Choice Skincare

Paula'sChoiceI know that I’ve mentioned Paula’s Choice Skincare quite a bit on my blog. But I thought I would sit down and actually dedicate a post to the brand. My skin is really finicky so I tend to change my skincare pretty often. However, I do like to keep some products consistent because I know that they just work.

My skin type is definitely extreme combination. I manage to get oily and dry in the same place. I don’t know how that’s possible but what can I say, my skin is really talented. I also have really sensitive skin so I try not to use too many products with fragrance as they just make me super red and irritated.

Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel: This is by far my favorite Paula’s Choice product that I have tried. It exfoliates the skin and removes dead skin cells without drying the skin out. I like BHA’s but too much of that and my skin goes a bit haywire. I use AHA every morning before my lotion.

RESIST Youth Extending Daily Mattifying Fluid SPF 50: This is a fantastic thin SPF that I love using over my moisturizer. I really don’t like thick SPF’s as they tend to clog my pores so this is perfect!

CLEAR Daily Skin Clearing Treatment 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide: You will never run out of this. The tube is MASSIVE and you need the smallest amount! I like to use this at night on any open blemishes. I find that this dries them up without drying up the surrounding skin. Really good, love it.

RESIST Retinol Serum: Yeah, yeah, I know. I’m 23, I don’t need this. But hear me out! This has vitamin C and retinol and actually helps to fade any dark marks that I may have. It’s also just super luxurious feeling! You need just a drop for your whole face and my face just glows by the next morning!

Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Exfoliant: So, as I said earlier, BHA can make my skin a bit crazy. Sometimes it loves it, sometimes not so much. I use this VERY sparingly. I only use this where I have visible pores and I only use it about twice a week maximum. Otherwise I find it’s way too much and my skin gets dry, then it gets overly oily, then I break out. This one’s a bit finicky but I’m still testing it out!

I would just like to say that I bought all of these products with my own money. This may seem a bit excessive but I just really like that none of these products have a scent so they’re great for sensitive skin. Have you tried anything from Paula’s Choice? Let me know down in the comments!

I love love love my Paula’s Choice products! I didn’t get to try that skin perfecting gel first (the AHA one), but I can’t wait to try it once I’m through my Ole Henricksen Lemon Flash Peel.

It’s really gentle while still being effective which I really appreciate!

Paula’s Choice is a lifesaver for me. I have “folliculitis” (I know – it sounds so made up) which caused me to break out on my forehead, chest and back and it just wouldn’t go away. Dermatologist prescribed a bunch of stuff that only partially worked. I now use the 2% BHA fluid on my chest, back and arms twice daily, and the RESIST version of the 2% BHA fluid on my forehead/face twice daily. The awful itchy bumps are totally gone and I haven’t seen one in probably five years. I’m now trying out the new line minimizer that was an xmas gift to myself (20% off!)

I also use her makeup: Barely There foundation all over – it’s like a tinted moisturizer, the concealer for redness/spots, and either the Healthy Finish pressed powder or the Resist powder to finish. The RESIST is nice and translucent. I have the matte eyeshadow palette too and like it a lot. I like her makeup because it’s fragrance free and almost everything has SPF.

I even use her brushes: the concealer brush, powder brush and a couple eyeshadow brushes that I think are only available now in the travel size.

I also am a fan of the no animal testing policy, and her beauty product reviews are a go-to as well. I’ve tried many of her products and some were hits and some didn’t work for me, but the return policy is great so you can order without fear.

I’d love to try the AHA stuff – it works so well for you! It looks like we must have really different skin types though, since the BHA is so rough on your skin and I can’t take anything with benzoyl peroxide.

I think the AHA works the best for me. I have extremely dehydrated skin so I can’t go too crazy with BHA. Her makeup definitely is great! Honestly her products are just really affordable and they work. They’re not fancy but they work ha. Thanks so much for sharing what works for you Becky! I’m glad that her products work for you as well!
