Nivea Men Post Shave Balm, A Primer?

Nivea Primer

If you are an avid watcher of Nikkie Tutorials you will have heard about this product. Nivea Men Post Shave Balm, Sensitive. She swears that it is the best primer! And you know what? She’s right.

I was beyond skeptical. I was like yeah, okay, this will work better than my products that are formulated specifically to be makeup primers, sure! I bought it because it was on sale and I was like hey, if I don’t like it my fiancé will use it. (He uses it too by the way and he loves it as well!)

I don’t know how this product does it but it keeps my makeup in place and shine free all day long. But it’s moisturizing at the same time? I don’t know! I honestly don’t understand. It was $6. It’s upsetting that I have spent so much money on primers after trying this.

This does have a scent. It smells like men’s aftershave ha! I like it, I think it smells nice but if you really hate that smell then this might not be for you. I have extremely sensitive skin that is prone to break outs but this is extremely gentle. It’s formulated for sensitive skin which is really nice! I have been using this for 2 weeks now and honestly, all of my other primers have been pushed to the back of my makeup drawer.

Final Verdict? Buy it. It’s $6.

If you don’t like it give it to your boyfriend/father/brother/fiancé/husband/roommate/next door neighbor. Seriously, just try it out.

If you need more persuading, Kathleen Lights recently did a first impressions on this. Go take a look! Are there any products that have been recommended by beauty gurus that have really surprised you? Let me know down in the comments!

I remember watching her video and I was really surprised. I have oily skin so I don’t know if it would work on me so I’ve never thought about giving it a try. Now I am actually tempted to give it a try and like you said if I don’t use it then I can give it to someone else! I will add this to my list!

I get a bit shiny in my T-zone and this completely eliminates that. I’m honestly not sure what’s in it but I like it ha!

I bought it too after hearing Nikkie rave about it so much, it’s amazing isn’t it?! I can’t believe how cheap it is either xx

I know! I’m really shocked! Pleasantly surprised ha! And the price just makes it ten times better!

I’m still so skeptical so haven’t tried it but I think i could probably get it on sale here for like £2 so must just pick it up to give it a try as I like these sound of it being hydrating. Do you find that the strong aftershave scent lingers around for ages? x

No it doesn’t linger at all. I smell it for about 5 minutes and then it seems to fade to nothing. It’s really quite nice.

I have definitely heard Nikki talk about this all the time in her tutorials! I completely brushed the idea off, but after reading your review I’m going to get some tomorrow. I have combination skin, so I’m all for trying products that keep the oiliness at bay lol. I found that the Infallible primer from L’Oréal has worked quite well for me though, so you could try that too.

I enjoy silicone primers as well especially since they’re pore filling! If you haven’t tried the Maybelline Matte and Poreless foundation I highly suggest it if you want to keep shine away! I find that combination works really well for me!

Thank you so much for that suggestion Ellen, I will definitely be checking that out!:)

I have no idea!!! Maybe it was one of those moments where you’re like crap I forgot my skincare and used your boyfriends? Who knows!

Interesting! I remember her swearing by this, and while the thought of putting men’s aftershave balm all over my face makes me cringe a little, I’ll probably try it for $6. Bonus if it works really well!

It’s not too strongly scented so it’s honestly not bad! You just smell nice and fresh for like 5 minutes ha! Hope it works well for you!

You wouldn’t think it would work well but it’s honestly a lovely makeup primer! Keeps my makeup in place all day!
