Makeup Challenge (4) Matte Eyes, Matte Lips

Matte 3 (1)

All of a sudden, fall has hit Philadelphia. It is downright chilly in the mornings and even during the day if the sun isn’t out (you’re all like yeah, duh, don’t you have a biology degree?). But it feels very autumnal and I am absolutely loving it! The leaves are well and truly on their way to deep reds and oranges and I felt very inspired!

Matte 5 (1)

I painted my nails black and decided that I felt like a pumpkin so I kept the palette simple with just a pop of orange. I really love how this look came out, it’s just so fun and simple. I have seen both Kathleen Lights and Karima from Shameless Fripperies use this eyeshadow placement and I absolutely love it! It’s a great way to add some color to an otherwise neutral look.

Matte 1 (1)

I kept everything completely matte and I used a grey eyeshadow for my wing because even though some liners claim they’re matte I still find that a lot of them have a sheen. I only did a bit of crease shading, nothing too overwhelming.

Matte 2 (1)

I recently bought a few single eyeshadows from Makeup Geek and this orange shade, Chickadee, was just calling out to me! I popped it in the tear duct since I couldn’t do my shimmer inner corner highlight. What do you think? Would you rock this? Halloween is just around the corner..

I wouldn’t rock this look however you really do! I like the matte look more than the shiny one and this one is beautiful! I adore the lashes.

Thanks so much! It’s fun to play with matte shadows they can be really flattering. The lashes are some of my favorite they’re just so comfortable!

The best part about these colors is the way that your eye color stands out against them. (Is is weird that we’ve lived together for like 3 years and I just now realized we have the same eye color?) And, amazingly, those oranges play nicely with pinky-creamy skin. You chose well! I find the combination of pinky skin and whatever-you-call-my-copperish-hair makes it really difficult to wear orangey-yellow tones. Glad that the Physicians Formula mascara is working out for you, too. I think that one’s really great when you almost want to look like you’re not wearing anything on your lashes, but still want a little bit of tint.

I never noticed either! Maybe we don’t stare into each other’s eyes enough Faith 😉 You’re right it’s a great everyday mascara.

So pretty! It’s such a cute way to add a pop of colour without being too over the top! We need to work up the courage to do this
