It took me a while to decide what I wanted to do for this challenge. At first I wanted to make everything purple but that didn’t seem very “of the season” so I switched to burgundy.
I decided to do a soft, blown out burgundy wing with a burgundy lip. Again, I have to go out wearing this so you know I try to make it semi-wearable.
I used my Paula’s Choice Matte eyeshadow palette which I reviewed here to build up some crease definition. I actually only used 3 eyeshadows total to do this look. A crease color, a transition shade and then that gorgeous burgundy smudged all around the lash lines and blended very slightly into the crease.
When I’m feeling lazy (which is most days…) I like to use some tape to map off my wing. I find this is especially helpful if I’m using a shadow to make the wing. It just allows for extra blending of the shadow into the crease without losing the wing edges.
Once you remove the tape just make sure to take off any harsh edges and blend the color into the bottom lash line to make it cohesive.
When I am working with dark colors, like this one, I usually do my foundation after my eyes are almost done. Everything looks super messy until the foundation and concealer goes on so don’t panic! Once your under eye concealer is on you can go ahead and re-blend those edges just to make sure everything looks good.
Once the eyes were done I added some lashes, glitter for the inner corners of the eyes, blush, highlight and a nice dark lip to pull it all together (because sometimes more is more right?).
